Wildflower Weekend Art Escape
Mingenew Region - Friday 27 August to Sunday 29 August 2021
Immerse yourself in WA’s spectacular Wildflower Country. Our tour will be based in Mingenew, 360km north of Perth and gateway to the Coalseam Conservation Park and Depot Hill Reserve; two of Western Australia’s top wildflower hotspots. A huge variety of wildflowers are found in abundance here, with vast carpets of pink and white Everlastings, yellow Pom Pom, Banksias, Hakeas and exquisite snail, donkey and spider orchids.
To ensure you don’t miss out on the fabulous weekend, submit your Expression of Interest for advance notice (you will receive details and the opportunity to book prior to publication on our website).
Suitable for the everyone, from the complete beginner to the accomplished artist, you will receive individual tuition and advice on composition, colour mixing and techniques (pastels and acrylics). We provide all the materials you need and you will be guided through the steps to create two unique pieces of art.
We will be based at the Mingenew Springs Caravan Park. Arrive on Friday evening for welcome drink and nibbles and a fish and chip dinner. This is followed by an optional fun skills session (focus on composition and acrylic techniques) to get your creativity flowing. On Saturday morning we travel in convoy to the popular Coalseam Conservation Park, using Acrylics on canvas for our first en plein air art session. Immerse yourself in the pioneering history and interesting geological features of the Park as we capture the beautiful wildflowers on canvas. In the afternoon there will be another skills session (focus on pastels and colour mixing) before heading to the local Mingenew Hotel for dinner (optional). On Sunday we venture a short distance to Depot Hill for our second en plein air session using pastels on Colourfix pastel paper.
