Abundant with natural beauty, breathtaking scenery, and a unique and rich history… add in the art factor and you have all the ingredients for an unforgettable experience of a lifetime. The colours, the history, and the amazing views around every turn will inspire you to interpret what you see and feel and capture the essence of this magnificent place in your art pieces. Louise has family living on the island and has had the chance to develop some local knowledge. She has partnered with the Norfolk Island Travel Centre to ensure you get the most from this fabulous art trip.

Louise has many years of experience teaching art and will guide you to achieve your best results using acrylic paints (oils are an option also by request) - choose to bring your own art materials or opt to have all the materials you need supplied for an extra cost.

Norfolk Island is a true getaway! Situated in the Pacific Ocean, a 2.5 hour flight from Sydney (1,676km northeast of Sydney). It is a volcanic outcrop and is approximately 8km long and 5km wide. There are two uninhabited islands close by to the south (Nepean and Philip). The island has a fascinating history for you to discover and stunning scenery to enjoy and to paint; approximately one third of the island is National Parks and Reserves. There are close to 2000 permanent residents living on the island, of which around 40% can trace their lineage back to the mutineers from the HMS Bounty and their Polynesian partners, and you may hear some of the locals speaking Norf’k such as “Watawieh yorlyi?” (Hello and how are you).

About the Artist…

Louise Collier is a visual artist with many years of teaching experience. Please see Louise Collier's website. Louise currently resides close to the ocean south of Mandurah in Western Australia and is passionate about nature, the ocean, and the coastline. She has lived and worked as an artist in other parts of Australia, including eight years on islands in north Queensland, in the southwest region of WA, and in the Kimberley area of WA. In 2021, Louise led a similar, very successful art adventure to the East Kimberley (as well as numerous weekend art retreats to various locations), and in 2025 is coming good on her promised next Art Adventure… Norfolk Island! What a fantastic spot, an artist’s paradise. One of Louise’s daughters lives on the island and Louise has been fortunate to have gained some local knowledge and to pick out some favourite ‘en plein air’ painting spots. Flying into Norfolk Island on her first visit, Louise instantly knew this would be the destination for the next Art Adventure!
