A fabulous art immersion day at Settlers.

Enjoy three different workshops:

  • Painting wildlife with acrylics with Ros Blackburn

  • Soft pastels techniques with Louise Collier

  • Fun with mixed media with Annie Rawle

    (See below for a brief description of each workshop).

    Itinerary:

    9.00am to 11.00am Workshop 1

    11.00 am to 11.30am Morning tea (provided)

    11.30am to 1.30pm Workshop 2

    1.30pm to 2.00pm Lunch break (BYO lunch)

    2.00pm to 4.00pm Workshop 3

    4.00pm to 4.30pm Relax with a complimentary glass of wine and nibbles (provided)

    Historic Settlers Cottage is located at 180 Pearson Street, Churchlands, is owned by the National Trust and currently used as Art Studios. The setting is idyllic, nestled close to the Herdsman Lake, surrounded by trees and wildlife. The venue for our workshops is in the adjacent Shelter area (outdoor undercover with weather protection) and on the shady verandahs of the cottage. With Covid, this is the perfect way to enjoy art activities.

Wildlife with Acrylics with Ros Blackburn

Starting with a brightly coloured pre painted canvas, Ros will teach you, over two fun filled hours, how to acheive a beautifully textured artwork to take home by painting layer upon layer of colour and working in the negative. A brief overview on colour theory will also be given. All materials provided.

Soft Pastel Techniques with Louise Collier

Using artist quality soft pastels and Colourfix paper, Louise will show you skills and techniques to get the best from soft pastels to create beautiful pastel artworks. All materials provided.

Fun with Mixed Media

In this playful class, Annie will take you through ways to incorporate paints, oil pastels, pencil, textiles and paper into one cohesive artwork. All materials provided.

What we provide

$130.00 per person (plus booking fee) includes:

  • Three different two hour workshops.

  • Guided step-by-step instruction and expert tuition from our experienced Artists.

  • All art material provided.

  • Delicious morning tea and a complimentary drink and nibbles after the last workshop (BYO lunch).

  • The masterpieces you create are yours to take home!

What to bring

  • Water bottle.

  • Lunch.

What to wear

  • An apron is provided but wear clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on.  Although soft pastels, acrylic and watercolour paints are water-soluble, some pigments can be difficult to remove.

  • Weather appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear.

Appropriate for

  • All levels - no experience is necessary.

  • Adults (children 12 and over allowed with an accompanying adult).
