Art & Gin Weekend Escape

Margaret River - Friday 20 May to Sunday 22 May 2022

Margaret River Art & Gin Weekend Escape

Tour Overview:

This relaxing and creative weekend includes two nights accommodation at the peaceful Riverglen Chalets, two fabulous art sessions (watercolour workshop and ‘en plein air’ acrylics painting session*), all meals (except Saturday night), yoga session, lunch and gin tasting at the Margaret River Distillery.

Our base for the weekend is Riverglen Chalets, a hidden gem in the heart of the Margaret River Region. Your room will be in one of the secluded chalets surrounded by stunning bushland and gardens.

Arrive on Friday evening for a welcome drink and a dinner (provided at Riverglen by a local Margaret River catering business) whilst getting to know everyone and enjoy the ambience and tranquility of the surrounding gardens and bushland from the huge deck of the big house. On Saturday morning, start the day with an exclusive to us gentle wake up yoga session on the deck of the big house, followed by brekky in your chalet. Enjoy a 4 hour watercolour workshop*, seeking inspiration from the gardens and bushland surrounding the chalets or from local themed reference material. We will be using artist quality watercolour paper, watercolour paints and ink. The aim of the workshop will be to produce two small studies that you will be able to frame later in the day.

We then only need to wander a short distance to the adjoining Margaret River Distillery for a yummy lunch and gin tasting. Enjoy some free time later on Saturday afternoon (optional massage), before reconvening for a sundowner complimentary drink and nibbles whilst framing our watercolour studies from the morning’s workshop and a skills session to prepare us for Sunday’s en plein air session* (focus on acrylic painting techniques and colour mixing). Saturday evening, optionally wander into town with us for dinner at a local restaurant (not included). On Sunday we venture down to the spectacular Redgate Beach* for our second art workshop, this time an ‘en plein air’ session using acrylic paints on canvas to capture the breathtaking raw beauty of this rugged coastal location.

Suitable for the everyone, from the complete beginner to the accomplished artist. You will receive individual tuition and advice on composition, colour mixing and techniques (watercolour and acrylics). We provide all the materials you need and you will be guided through the steps to create your own unique pieces of art.

* Please note in the case of inclement weather we may alter the itinerary as follows:

  • ‘en plein’ air’ session at Redgate Beach to be relocated back to the undercover deck area of the Riverglen Chalets where we will paint undercover from reference material.

    OR

  • We reserve the right to switch the workshops if the weather is fine on Saturday but not on Sunday (ie the ‘en plein air’ session at Redgate Beach may be moved to Saturday morning and the pastels workshop at Riverglen Chalets will be moved to Sunday morning).
